The Member Work Barter Program is an opportunity
for an individual to learn about free range poultry farming by helping
out on the farm. In exchange for this person's labor and help, the
Co-op membership fee is waived and the person is paid a salary in
Co-op food products. The Work Barter Program is aimed at education
with the long term goal of having the individual become an independent
producer for the Co-op. Alternatively, it could be an opportunity
for a person in an urban setting to connect with the traditional
rural lifestyle and understand first hand where their food comes
from.
Work duties will involve all aspects of free
range poultry care and management, as well as a variety of other
farm chores, including livestock care, greenhouse work and even
some tractoring. Previous farm experience is not a requirement.
Only one position is available for 2008.
Potential candidates must be mature, responsible, honest, physically
fit and good with animals. This is part time position and we can
accommodate flexible work hours.
